The first thing that is visible to you is the color of the bruises, (Blue, Black, Red... and the list go on depending on the severity of the bruises).

A bruise, also called a contusion or ecchymosis. Witch Hazel helps reducing inflammation and bleeding. An ointment made from witch hazel can be applied to the skin to treat bruises and cuts and to tighten stretched (distended) veins and restore blood vessel tone.

Witch hazel is recommended for external use. Some people drink witch hazel tea, but the correct dosage is uncertain. Consuming too much witch hazel can cause nausea, vomiting, and constipation.

Arnica

Arnica ointment can be applied to the skin to treat bruises. It may improve healing by:

  • Decreasing swelling.
  • Decreasing pain.
  • Speeding blood reabsorption.

Arnica is recommended for external use only. Do not put arnica inside your mouth or swallow it. The plant is poisonous and, if swallowed, it can cause stomach pain, diarrhea, vomiting, difficulty breathing, cardiac arrest, and death.

Stop using arnica if a skin rash develops.

I've used a product called Bruise Relief. You can find it at CVS. The ingredients are all-natural and it really works. It was a New Orleans family recipe passed down through generations and now they're bottling it. Primary ingredients are evening primrose oil and Vitamin E. I bruise very easily and I've used it now several times and it works.
