HOMEOSTASIS
Holistic practitioners believe that the mind and body tend towards a state of balance, or homeostasis, and have a natural capacity for self regulation. The ability to maintain equilibrium, however, can be overwhelmed when we are under strain, physically or emotionally. Demands on one part of the whole affect other parts – constant emotional pressure or tension for an example, may cause physical fatigue. Optimum health, is therefore achieved by looking after all parts of the whole.
Homeostasis also maintained by nurturing the mind as well as the body. The body should be healthy and the mind alert and active, with a positive attitude.
