Guidelines for OPTIMUM NUTRITIONS
- Make half your daily diet starchy complex carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, and wholegrain.
- Eat at least five portions a day of fruit and vegetables, preferably organic.
- Obtain poultry, fish, pulses, cereal and low fat diary products, rather than red meat.
- Use skimmed milk and low fat dairy products instead of full fat foods.
- Eat oily fish for essential fatty acids.
- Use olive oils or other unsaturated oils for salads and cooking.
- Eat plenty of foods high in fibers.
- Steam vegetables rather than frying or boiling.
- Drink fruit juices and enough water to keep urine pale.
